Celia is an accomplished and creative fine-art photographer specialising in flowers. Between 2009 and 2013 she was one of Sony’s Advocate photographers facilitating workshops and giving lectures on macro and flower photography at the 2012 Sony World Photography Awards in Somerset House, London, Edinburgh University Photographic Society and “Focus on Imaging” show at the NEC Birmingham and at RHS Wisley. Between 2009 - 2013 Celia was the organiser and administrator of the Arundel Gallery Trail, one of the original Open Houses Art Trails representing over 100 artists in 60 Arundel venues. Since April 2020 she has regularly been found delivering workshops for the RPS SE Region and Digital Imaging Group on Photoshop for the Creative Flower Photographer.
Her work has been commissioned by interior designers to provide images for use in domestic residences and show home developments, has featured in TV Channel 5 room make-over programmes. Prior to pandemic times, Celia exhibited regularly in East and West Sussex galleries and venues, including the London Affordable Art Show. Celia lives in Arundel. The day job is an IT Trainer and Lecturer in Computing.
With regard to her talk this evening she said “I love the whole workflow of creating an image – the “see”, “take”, “make” process. Unlike some photographers I look forward to spending time in Photoshop. This is my creative playtime, blending with textures, painting with digital watercolour or oil brushes, using layers to emulate multi-exposure effects. In my talk I will discuss what makes the best subjects, why backgrounds are so important and the considerations for capturing an image. And then comes the magic, all the creative tools in Photoshop, some of which I’ll be showing you how to do after the break!
This will be a two-part talk. The first will be all about Celia's flower photography, then the second part will be how to do this in Photoshop!
