About the event:

I am pleased to welcome Ian Daisley to speak to the group for the first time about his black and white photos of the Peak District. Ian is another speaker that was recommend and requested  by the group.

About the talk:

Ian's love of black and white photography is illustrated in this presentation of the Peak District. Seeing the landscape in monochrome gives us a different perspective; it also allows us to develop interesting images using shapes and patterns in the world around us. With no colour distractions to tempt the eye, black and white images help to show shape and form more easily, allowing the viewer to stay a little longer and discover more.

This presentation includes some explanations and demonstrations of methods used to process the RAW files to black & white. Ian uses Capture One Pro for all his RAW file workflow.

A section showing Ian’s recent film projects is also included. Going back to using film has allowed Ian to explore subjects & express his ideas in a slightly different way. See and learn how black & white film is developed and processed in his hybrid analogue/digital workflow.

About Ian:

Despite my interest in photography, I started working life as an apprentice engineer and ended up in IT and data networking, taking 'early retirement' in 2008. I have been a full time freelance photographer since then. I work from my studio in the Peak District, creating images of commercial products, motorcycles, food, & family portraits. Outside of the studio I provide bespoke tuition, on site commercial photography and can sometimes be found photographing weddings.

High Stone Gallery is the home to my collection of landscape prints.
